Kicking off 1st Grade

Ruby started 1st Grade this month! I think we were all ready to go back to school - summer was fun but it was also super long….and all the other schools had been back for weeks! With the start of 1st grade we introduced a few grown up things too….like a chore list and allowance. It’s only been a week so we’ll see how this all turns out. As for me, I’m super hopeful the allowance will bribe her into doing all the things because the sass is already there!

Just like last year we went school shopping together because she’s super into styling herself. And now it’s not just clothes, she’s all IN with the shoes and accessories. She got to pick out 3 new school outfits (plus 1 Nana gave her and another I gave her). She tried all the looks on and did a fashion show for us all. And I have to say is she really brought it this year - honestly she has better clothes than I do - I would happily have her style me! Though I do get some credit as I am encouraging some of her selections. :)

As for starting school, Ruby could not have been more excited! And we could not be more proud of all her hard work. She’s starting 1st grade as a full on reader of chapter books. Her writing is super neat, she’s been using math in everyday conversations, she is learning to tell time, knows how to tie her shoes (with a little help sometimes), and did the best summer project of her favorite memories from our vacation. But most of all, this girl works hard. Love you little bean. I’m so excited to see where this year takes you.
