Hi!  I'm Sejal.  This is my personal journal. Sometimes I’m good about writing. Sometimes I’m not.

Just Have the Party

Just Have the Party

Edward turned 51 last week. I’ve been asking him for months what he wanted to do for his birthday and every time I asked he said nothing big, no parties or anything. And honestly I felt the annoyance every time I asked. And so I figured it out on my own (or so I thought til plans changed). Dinner and Moulin Rouge with just him/I one night and then Breakfast in bed/pool hang/cook his favorite food with Ruby/I.

Then 3 days before his birthday he tells me that a friend was asking what we were doing for his birthday and suggested dinner with our close friends. Edward said he didn’t want to do that, but maybe a party at the house would be cool. So as he was telling me this I outwardly said ok (and added so we’re going to have a party with 3 days notice after I’ve been asking you for months?). He was like I guess ya if it’s ok….. I mean I couldn’t say no. And tbh it was going to be fine, this is totally my thing - but was not thrilled with the lack of notice. And the house wasn’t ready for guests - reno was still in progress. We did have a working pool and backyard was looking nice but there was ALOT that still needed to be done. Oh well! So I ordered the food and cake, got the alcohol, brought out what was left of our old outdoor furniture from the garage and worked with Rebeca to make the place presentable. Ruby and I even decorated to make it more festive.

As it turns out every. single. person I invited with 2 days notice showed up so we had like 25ish people with kids to celebrate his big day. Our friends are the best! It was our first party at the new house. And it was nice to be able to share it with our friends….even in the work in progress state. And nobody cared that we have holes in our kitchen cabinets, our couches in the living room are too small/being replaced, we’re lacking on artwork, and there is literally no landscaping anywhere. They were just happy to be there. What a reminder that it’s all about the people. It’s always about the people. I’m so glad we had the party - life’s too short to wait until the house is done….because at this point who knows when that will be!

Happy Birthday Edward! Next time give me more notice though. lol
