My Beauty
Ruby had her big Beauty and the Beast performance last week. What a day! It was beyond anything I could ever imagine. Normally she gets a little quiet before her performances but this one was different. She was only excited and couldn’t wait to get the day started. And honestly as far as I could tell she wasn’t nervous which still just amazes me. I think she does get the anxious/excited feeling but not nervous nervous. I also surprisingly didn’t get the anxious/nervous feeling that I sometimes get because I knew she was going to kill it. She knew ALL her lines, in fact she knew EVERYONE’S lines. But I was kinda feeling the pressure for her - I mean she was the lead….
As the play started, all the kids came out 1 by 1 and we waited excitedly for her first lines. OMG, just wow - her stage presence and delivery. Not only did she say her lines but she did it with confidence and poise. And then when she got to the singing parts I mean she really sang - loud with the right timing, pitch and tone. She belted it - with that little body! I was blown away. In fact, the whole theater was blown away. I had so many emotions swirling around in my head as I was crying with joy - pride, awe, gratitude, holy shit, immense love for this tiny but magical creature. She was breathtaking up on that stage and I was so proud of her I could have bursted. It almost didn’t seem fair that this was my girl.
After the play she ran up to us with the biggest squeal while everyone came up to us telling her how amazing and magical and special she is. I really don’t think she quite gets it but maybe that’s ok and will come later. I don’t know. But we took the rest of the day celebrating her with Nana and Scarlett just so could feel the love and pride.
Thank you my sweet Ruby. Your performance was perfection. What I’m most proud of is that you decided you wanted to be Belle (with zero hesitation), worked super hard, and went ALL in. I am in awe of how much you pack into that little body. You inspire me every day. I love you.
