Visiting Daddy in the Big City
Edward travels a ton for work. These days he is in New York every other week. The trips are really hard for him because he really misses Ruby (and maybe me too a little). So we decided that we would all go together for a week. He normally stays at the Gramercy Park Hotel which we love but this time I thought it might be nice to have a kitchen and 2 bedrooms so we got an Airbnb. I'm usually a pretty good Airbnb picker....but this time I failed. Our apartment was in a great location in the East Village and was walkable to lots of fun restaurants and cafes but it was tiny. It did have 2 bedrooms which was great but the rest of the apartment was literally a hallway - like the living area and kitchen wall to wall was like 6 feet. There was no room to do anything and we were on top of each other. So basically the apartment was no bueno.
It probably wouldn't have mattered too much if the weather was warmer because Ruby and I would have been out all day. But for some reason it was colder than normal in NY and so we were stuck inside more than we would have liked to be. Honestly we watched a lot of Moana and Coco because there just wasn't much room for poor Ruby to play. She was a trooper though until the very last day when she decided she too was over it! It was the fussiest I have ever seen her - like I'm pretty sure it was the hardest day of her life. Poor girl. Apparently she likes fancy hotels....like her Daddy! :)
Even with our apartment issues, it was nice that we were able to come on this trip with Edward. He was so happy we were there so it was all worth it. And we had some fun moments visiting with friends and Ruby/I did make it around the city which was great. Next time I'll just have to pick a better apartment (or Gramercy Park Hotel) and maybe I'll wait until the weather is warmer!
